“At 25, he (Muhammad) married a wealthy, widowed merchant named Khadija” p.452 My World History (Early Ages)

Despicable by Omission of facts.

From this statement and no other mention of Muhammad’s female relationships, it is left in the 7th grade readers mind that Muhammad had only one wife. Under the section “Men and Women” the same textbooks states on p.462 nothing about the Islamic limits of marriage partners of husbands and wives. Women are permitted one husband. Men are permitted four wives. But Muhammad by special dispensation from Allah was allowed 9 wives and several concubines. The textbook then states on p.462, “Under the Sharia, women and men had religious equality.” The math does not add up to equality with men. Polygamy is never mentioned in the textbook as one of the Laws of Sharia.
