“The hoods worn by the inquisitioners concealed their identities.” p.749 My World History (Early Ages)

Pictured next to this text is a person draped in dark robes. On an inner robe, on his chest is some type of symbol.  Covering his head is a tall, very tall, black cone shaped hood. The slits for the eyes are staring out into the eyes of the reader as if to say, “I am coming for you.” The chapter section teaches the student that The Inquisition is an example of what the Catholic Church did to Protestants between 1450 and 1750.

Disregarding the section text for a moment, the picture is designed to bring to mind any stored mental images the child may have of the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) in America. Turn the color of picture from black to white and the hooded man becomes a KKK member. Therefore, the conclusion is. Christians have always been evil KKK members. That is the impression intended. Subtle but powerful.

ABSENT FROM THE TEXTBOOK ARE ANY PICTURES OF MUSLIMS ENFORCING SHARIA LAW ON NON-MUSLIMS FOR 1400 YEARS. 1100 YEARS LONGER THAN THE INQUISITION.
