When I was a child, a student in the classroom, on December 7th, not a year went by that we did not see the black and white news movie clip of the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. In my mind, I still have the images of the black smoke rising from the sinking USS Arizona. My generation will always remember hearing President Roosevelt using a word we all learned that day “infamy.” That school lesson in my life will not be repeated in the lives of students today. For the next generation, 9/11 will not be remembered as it was “infamy,” but will be clouded with political correctness.
