#8 Posted Oct 14, 2012: Why are controversial Gulen charter schools still getting federal grants?

On Sep 28, 2012, the US Department of Education announced “20 grants totaling nearly $4 million to directly fund charter developers for the planning, program design and implementation of new charter schools, and the sharing of practices and dissemination of information by successful charter schools.”  These grants were under the Charter Schools Program.  Eighteen of the 20 went to new charter schools, 2 of which were Gulen charter schools:

Huma Weiner and Anthony Weiner

Why does Huma stay with Weiner? Why does she stand by her man. Because she is an Islamic Brotherhood Infiltrator. Huma’s mother is a high offical in the female branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Dr. Saleha Mahmood Abedin (Huma’s mother) is one of the founding members of the Muslim Sisterhood, and more importantly the long-time chairperson of the “International Islamic Committee for Woman and Child” (IICWC), which wants to impose Sharia law on Egypt, and eventually, the West.

As Hillary Clinton’s right hand girl, she hears important national security information and passes it on to the Brotherhood through her mother.  As wife of the future of the Mayor of New York City, she will help her man make decisions about the NYPD’s surveillance over Muslim terrorists.  And before you know it, we will have regular Friday, Muslim prayers blocking the streets of NYC (as in France & England) to demonstration of the dominance of Islam over the West.  And the Islamic Mosque at the site of the Twin Towers will fly into construction.

In Islam a man can have four wives, and a 24 hour marriage, so it is no big deal to Huma, if Weiner is texting other women.

Interesting name Huma. So close to Ummah. Ummah means world wide Islam. Any connection?

VATICAN CITY (Catholic Online) – The Vatican is confirming the death by beheading of Franciscan Father, Francois Murad, who was martyred by Syrian jihadists on June 23.Below is the news release from the Vatican, via

On Sunday, June 23 the Syrian priest François Murad was killed in Gassanieh, in northern Syria, in the convent of the Custody of the Holy Land where he had taken refuge. This is confirmed by a statement of the Custos of the Holy Land sent to Fides Agency. The circumstances of the death are not fully understood. According to local sources, the monastery where Fr. Murad was staying was attacked by militants linked to the jihadi group Jabhat al-Nusra.

Father François, 49, had taken the first steps in the religious life with the Franciscan Friars of the Custody of the Holy Land, and with them he continued to share close bonds of spiritual friendship. After being ordained a priest he had started the construction of a coenobitic monastery dedicated to St. Simon Stylites in the village of Gassanieh. After the start of the Civil War, the monastery of St. Simon had been bombed and Fr. Murad had moved to the convent of the Custody for safety reasons and to give support to the remaining few, along with another religious and nuns of the Rosary.

“Let us pray,” writes the Custos of the Holy Land Pierbattista Pizzaballa OFM ” so that this absurd and shameful war ends soon and that the people of Syria can go back to living a normal life.” Archbishop Jacques Behnan Hindo, titular of the Syrian Catholic archeparchy in Hassaké-Nisibis reports to Fides: “The whole story of Christians in the Middle East is marked and made fruitful by the blood of the martyrs of many persecutions. Lately, father Murad sent me some messages that clearly showed how conscious he was of living in a dangerous situation, and offered his life for peace in Syria and around the world. ”

**This should make it clear to Christians around the world what jihadists are about. Make no mistake. Catholics and Christians around the globe are under dire threat, particularly from the spread of militant Islam. Until the threat is recognized and taken seriously, martyrdoms like this will continue.

…We must warn you, the video is extremely graphic. We believe the first victim is Father Francois, and the second victim that is depicted is another person said to be a collaborator with the Assad regime.

The video CLEARLY depicts the beheadings of these victims. DO NOT follow the link unless you are over the age of 18, and are prepared to view content of this nature.

Catholic Online believes it is very important the world knows that Christians are being murdered for their faith, and that martyrdom isn’t an ancient phenomenon.

In a letter to the editor (2/20/13), a local Pittsburgh Muslim wrote of his regret that a Christian Pastor in Iran was sentenced to 8 years of prison for preaching Christianity to Muslims. Sohail Z. Husain’s letter is titled “Muslims & tolerance.” Mr. Husain defends Islam as a religion of religious tolerance. Using a quote from the Quran, Sura 2:257 “there is no compulsion in matter of faith, because right is distinct from wrong,” Mr. Husain attempts to prove that Islam is a tolerant religion. Those who understand the correct interpretation of the Quran know that this verse has been abrogated or removed from practical application by later verses of the Quran. The Islamic rule is that later verses override earlier verses if the two contradict. The later verses of the Quran are never tolerant of other religions. The evidence of this we see every day in the news. But this is not a debate over the concept of abrogation.

The question is this. Are Mr. Husain’s understandings of the verses of the Quran ignorance, deception or a conspiracy with the media to present Islam as something it is not –tolerant?

Ignorance: Believe it or not, many American Muslims do not know what their own religion believes. They do not know the history of Muhammad and his actions. Many Muslims are Muslim in name only. Mr. Husain may belong to a peaceful sect of Islam, but his views of Muslim tolerance are not main line Islam.

Deception: The Quran teaches holy lying. If a Muslim is in a minority status in a population, Muslims are permitted lie to insolate themselves from any negative reactions.

Conspiracy: The American news media is invested in presenting Islam as a tolerant religion. The textbooks of the public schools advance this falsehood in every classroom. This letter to the editor is just another stealth jihad attack upon the minds of the American population.

My conclusion is that this letter is all three. Ignorance, Deception, and Conspiracy

On this Blog, search the words tolerance and deception to find evidence to support my comments.

Having just posted on my blog a news report about a Muslim student food fight in Minneapolis, I read the same story in my local morning paper from the Associated Press. But guess what? There was no mention of the Muslims involved. “What difference does that make now.” says Mrs. Clinton. They do the same with Public School Textbooks.

The fight was “connected to long-running racial tension.” Uh, Islam is not a race. More of the poisonous fruit of importing whole Muslim communities under the Refugee Resettlement Program.

That “all-out brawl” at South High in Minneapolis got coverage from virtually every local outlet. At WCCO-TV, Esme Murphy reports: “Twelve people complained that they had been sprayed with mace. Police at the scene said they had to use chemical agent to get the crowd under control as they were being pelted with objects as they tried to break things up. … [One student] said the fights were over pride. ‘I know it’s a pride thing between Muslims and black people,’ she said. ‘They want their pride back for something. I don’t know.’ She also said ‘boys were hitting girls’ and that some people were lying on the floor, with their hands over their heads, in surrender.… The fight, students say, was the result of long-simmering tensions between the 8 percent of students who are Somali Americans and the 20 percent who are African Americans.” (Minn Post)

Last July, a Minnesota Sheriff reported to Congress on the growing Somalia Muslim gang threat.

Wait till they outnumber the local students. The Somalis do not have the advantage yet. At last count there were more than 60,000 there, and the city got big money to allow them there under the Refugee Resettlemnt Program.

Fight at South High leads to melee involving 200 to 300 students Star Tribune staff writers, February 14, 2013

Police descended Thursday afternoon on a cafeteria melee involving hundreds of Minneapolis South High School students that some said is connected to long-running racial tension in the school among Somalis and others.

After-school activities will go on as scheduled, but a district spokesperson said officials are debating canceling classes on Friday to let the situation calm down. Monday is a day off, due to President’s Day.

Police said three students and one staff member were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No weapons were involved and no one was arrested but charges ranging from rioting to disorderly conduct could be filed, according to Police Sgt. William Palmer.

“But that investigation is going to take time,” he told news media gathered at the school. Police have surveillance images from cameras inside the school, said Palmer, who added that Mace was needed to calm the unrest.

The incident happened almost one month after four students at Minneapolis Washburn High School were disciplined for dangling a dark-skinned doll by a piece of string in a school stairway. Tensions flared and after-school activities were cancelled after the Jan. 17 incident.

At South on Thursday, Palmer said tensions started during first-hour lunch at about 11:45 a.m. when one student threw a milk carton at another, sparking a small fight. By the third lunch hour at about 12:45 p.m., unsubstantiated rumors about that initial fight spread, erupting into the melee involving 200 to 300 students pushing, shoving and throwing items, he said. Twenty to 25 staff members tried to intervene, as did two School Resource Officers who ended up calling Minneapolis police for back-up.

Palmer said students were not dispersing or following orders so Mace was sprayed into the air, successfully breaking up the fighting. “We’re very fortunate no one got seriously hurt,” he said.

A chaotic scene

Students said some people were stomping on others and throwing bottles until police arrived at the school, located about a block south of East Lake Street off of 19th Avenue.

Junior Simon Quevedo said fights during the first two lunches escalated as word spread. “People came in to back up their friends and it turned into an altercation,” he said. “I was a bit scared because you never know what people will have on them.”

Student Council president Connor Bass described the scene as “chaos” until it was broken up. The senior said five to six fights were going on simultaneously.

“When the cops came and started spraying Mace it was just pandemonium with people trying to run away,” he said.

Tensions stayed high after school, but violence did not reignite when words were exchanged in the school parking lot after classes were dismissed.

Junior Adnan Farah, standing with his mother, said the violence “was a racial issue. This is just the biggest one throughout the year.”

Guled Omar, a senior, said he was sitting in the cafeteria when the outburst began after a boy hit a girl.

“I don’t feel safe here,” Omar said. “This is something that has been going on” for at least two years, he said.

“I don’t know if it’s because we’re minorities of the newest immigrant group,” Omar added, saying he has complained to the principal and the School District.

Minneapolis Public Schools spokesman Stan Alleyne said the district takes racial complaints seriously and that the school is safe.

Amateur video shows fight

“A food fight … escalated into a physical fight” during the third lunch period that lasted about 15 minutes, the school said in a notice posted on its website.

“Staff members responded immediately to the incident and followed proper security procedures,” the statement continued. The campus was placed on “code yellow” lockdown through the school day, with students remaining in their classes before being dismissed as usual.

Amateur video posted on KSTP-TV, Channel 5, shows many students scattering during the incident amid the cafeteria tables. Some of the tables were adorned with helium-filled balloons for Valentine’s Day.

“Fighting is not tolerated at school or on school property,” the school’s statement said, adding that the School District will follow its discipline policy in dealing with incident.

As many around the world prepared to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday, some Muslims in a number of countries voiced their opposition to the day and denounced it as un-Islamic.

During the week, Some Pakistanis celebrated Valentine’s Day with balloons and flowers, but others denounced the holiday as an insult to Islam.

In the port city of Karachi, home to 18 million people, billboards decorated with a black heart urged citizens to “SAY NO TO VALENTINE’S DAY,” Reuters reported.

“This tradition reflects insensitivity, indignity and ignorance of Islam,” the signs read.

“Teenagers see it as a time to express love and affection and they often end up in sex parties, like in the West.”

According to Syed Askari, a spokesman for Jamaat-e-Islami, “Valentine’s is against Islamic culture. In our view, relationships are sacred. We have arranged marriages in this culture and people don’t get married for love.”

“This is imposing Western values and cultures on an Islamic society,” he added.

The spokesman derided the West, warning that Muslim countries shouldn’t turn like them.

Dozens of schoolgirls wearing headscarves in Indonesia’s eastern Java’s Malang city protested against Valentine’s Day, declaring Feb. 14 “headscarf day.”

With plans to protest in several cities, the girls have distributed pamphlets illustrating how men and women should dress modestly, covered from head to toe.

Local media reported protests in the central Java city of Solo on Wednesday, where nearly 500 elementary school students and teachers marched against youths celebrating the day. They carried signs reading “Valentine, Infidel Culture.”

School Bans Valentine’s Day Candy, Cards
Posted on February 14, 2013
By Todd Starnes

Boys and girls at a Massachusetts elementary school have been banned from bringing Valentine’s Day candy or cards over cultural equality issues and federal guidelines regulating candy.

Parents of students at Salemwood Elementary School in Malden, Mass, received a letter informing them of the policy – that impacts not just Valentine’s Day – but all holidays.

“We have many different nationalities, cultures and languages spoken,” Principal Carol Keenan told Fox News. “Because of that we don’t honor specific holidays.”

Keenan said she did not want some students feeling left out.

“This is done with all good intentions – to have all students be accepted, to have all students feel like they belong,” she said.

Malden is the second most-diverse city in Massachusetts and the school is home to students from 67 different cultures.

Blog Commentary: Could it have been the parents of Muslims students that brought about this policy? Valentines Day is condemned by Muslims all over the world.

Boston Public Schools Expose Students to Islamist Lies

Posted on December 8, 2012
The Wellesley Middle School was caught in a nasty controversy when my organization, Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT), released a shocking video of a student trip to the Roxbury megamosque.
Viewers could see mosque staffers teach the students unadulterated propaganda – among other things, that Muslim women got the vote before women in the West. They also saw Wellesley boys prostrating themselves to Allah alongside Muslim men. The controversy was covered extensively on Boston TV and radio, and the video was seen by almost 500,000 people on YouTube.
As a result, Wellesley schools no longer visit that mosque. Good. But we also asked Wellesley school administrators to go back to the students and correct the false information they were taught, and then to explain what propaganda is.
They refused, and as far as we know, a class full of Wellesley students still believe these falsehoods and don’t know they were lied to. Why are school administrators afraid to tell the truth?
Now, the Newton public school system is enmeshed in a similar controversy about deceptive lessons concerning Muslim women. This time there is an anti-Semitic theme. As with Wellesley, the Newton school administrators are refusing to tell the children they were lied to.

It began when a Newton parent learned that his daughter was being taught – in a school handout — that Israelis incarcerate, torture and kill Palestinian women.

The material came from “The Arab World StudiesThe Arab World Studies Notebook Notebook,” which has been condemned by serious educators as blatant propaganda. How did this get into the curriculum?

Margo Einstein, Newton’s pro- Jewish “community organizer,” sparked a growing and organized effort to challenge the Newton schools. She has gathered a team of parents and researchers to review the textbooks and circular materials that are being used to teach about Arabs, Jews, Muslims and Christians in our schools.

As a taxpaying Newton resident, I was allowed to address the School Committee last week. A summary of my remarks (below) sketches out the problem and should give enough examples to make us all concerned:

Teachers in the Newton schools gave students a handout that defamed Israel’s Jews as monsters and savages who imprison, torture and kill Palestinian women. This is not only untrue, the opposite is true, that is, if you want to give students truly horrific examples of violence, murder and intolerance in the Middle East, you have all you can possibly want in Palestinian, Arab and Muslim behavior and history. And not just history – just review the violence of the Arab Spring, the daily slaughter of civilians in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

But as the Newton schools are guided by what is politically correct, our students cannot learn about any examples of non-Western misconduct. (You are programming our students not to judge the “Other” – only people like us.)

For example, Arabs today have black slaves in Sudan and Mauritania.

But you cannot teach that truth. It does not fit the politically correct narrative, that evil in the world comes from white Europeans – and everyone else is a victim. If you point out the obvious, you are a bigot, blaming the victim.

Newton students come from a culture that would not normally abandon blacks who are enslaved today. Nor would they abandon women or gays who are oppressed, but your politically correct education ensures that our children will not learn about the plights of these people in the Islamic realm, or anywhere outside the West for that matter – or that they will be afraid to speak about it. You will have taught them that.

But you (Newton schools) did give students ‘A Muslim Primer,’ which touts as the best guide to understanding Islam and human rights, by the Egyptian scholar Sayyid Qutb. But it turns out that Sayyid Qutb is the intellectual father of the Muslim Brotherhood. His books are filled with calls for Jihad against Christian, Jewish and secular Muslim societies. The book you gave them promotes the man who inspired Osama bin Laden.

Women in the Muslim world are third-class citizens. But nobody will explain this in Newton to our students. It’s taboo.

Instead, Newton North students have been given handouts describing the Muslim world as, I kid you not, ‘a world where womanhood reigns supreme,’ where women are freer than Western women, who apparently ‘have less control over their destiny.’

Gays are hanged in public squares in Iran, and Christians are besieged by mobs in Cairo, driven from Iraq and terrified in Damascus. But these essential facts are not politically correct and therefore taboo in Newton schools.

Newton students have a text called ‘World History/Human Legacy,’ which teaches that Mohammed shared his preaching with the Jews of Yathrib.

But the book doesn’t say that when the Jews rejected Mohammed, he beheaded the men in front of their families and took the terrified Jewish children and women as slaves.

In Newton, students read from a book called ‘Islam: the Straight Path,’ which calls the Torah and the Gospels degenerate and perverted.

You eliminated the ‘Arab World Studies Notebook,’ after we protested.

But if this poison, and so many others things we could point out to you, have penetrated your filters, we cannot be asked to trust you. We want to see what you are teaching our children. Yet, counter to your own rules, you have refused.

You have not, as far as we know, corrected the defamation of the Jews that you brought into the classroom. So Newton students may continue to believe that the Israelis torture and murder Palestinian women.

You did not investigate how this happened so that you can search out and eliminate other poisonous texts. You have not warned other school boards that this happened to you. You should have been shocked and apologetic. Instead, you want us to go away.

So: We want to know what you are teaching our children. Making us jump through hoops, treating us like this, is indecent.

I believe that the School Committee is composed of intelligent, well-meaning individuals. I also believe they are unaware of the cultural and political bias that permeates much of education today.

They may be guided by a desire to increase American students’ understanding of global issues but their efforts have been hijacked to promote false narratives and a lethal agenda. I urge the School Committee to make all syllabus and curricula openly available to the parents and taxpayers of Newton. In the age of the Internet, there is no excuse to hide what is being taught to the next generation.

A group of students at a high school in Fort Collins, Colo. recited the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic on Monday over the school’s intercom, reports local NBC affiliate KUSA-TV.
The principal at Rocky Mountain High School, Tom Lopez, is standing by his decision to allow the unique rendition of the traditional expression of patriotism that millions of Americans know by heart.
This year, a Rocky Mountain High student group asked Lopez if he would allow them to translate and recite the pledge in various languages.
“We do say the Pledge of Allegiance on Mondays at Rocky Mountain High School,” Lopez told KUSA. “They had to go through me for approval, and I reviewed it pretty carefully.”
The maiden translation was into French, which perhaps makes some sense because France secretly helped supply the leaders of the American Revolution with troops and equipment.
Last fall, the student group recited the pledge in Spanish. The United States is home to several million immigrants from Spanish-speaking countries. Latinos account for about 20 percent of all residents in Colorado.
On Monday, the group of students delivered the pledge in Arabic.
“We have a tremendous amount of diversity in our school,” Principal Lopez told KUSA. “This is very American, not un-American.”
“When they pledge allegiance to United States, that’s exactly what they’re saying,” he added. “They’re just using another language as their vehicle.”
Community response to the recitation of the Pledge in Arabic and the other two foreign tongues has been generally positive, Lopez told the station. Not everyone is supportive, though. Some outraged parents have called and emailed the school expressing strong condemnation of the practice.
“I guess I’m getting worn down a little bit by how intense their sense of hate has been represented in some of the things they’ve written and said,” Lopez told KUSA on Tuesday.
Lopez also told the NBC station that he has no plans to back down. He suggested that the student group will likely be given the opportunity to translate the pledge into other languages.
He did concede, however, that it’s not a bad idea for students to repeat the pledge in English that day.
